Lego WeDo 2.0 + Coding = Brains and Creativity At Work

Our second graders spend the year focusing on robotics and coding.  We research and learn about how robots make work easier and safer for people today.  We have fun while learning with Dot and Dash and get our creative grove on while using the fun attachments with Dash.  Right now we are mixing our love of Legos, our knowledge of coding, and good old research to learn with Lego WeDo 2.0.  Today we built and programmed a satellite. Prior to our build we researched and learned all about satellites so we had a better understanding of what we were building. I love watching kids create, it is so interesting to see how their brains work.  There are kids who just naturally follow directions and complete the build and want to move on with the most basic of programs.  There are kids who come up with the most amazing, creative programs and spend a lot of time seeing what is possible with their build.  Then there are the kids who start trying to add on somet...

So Proud of These Learners!

Because of a Liberty School District Foundation grant, a group of LC students had the opportunity to share our robotics grant with Liberty community members attending a LSDF breakfast on the William Jewell College campus.  All three schools involved in the grant brought students to the event and demonstrated how each of the grant robots work and what they have learned about coding and programming.  The students who represented Lewis and Clark did a fantastic job talking to community members, LSDF representatives, and LPS employees.  It was a great experience!
