The book I read was called Stagecoach Sal. The main characters were Sal and Poetic Pete. The problem was Poetic Pete is the most polite robber in San Fransisco. He pops out of nowhere and asks Sal if he could have a ride down to the town and Sal says yes. But every time Poetic Pete opens his mouth Sal sings something so he can not rob her.
